About us

The Lake Winnebago Green Party (LWGP) is a growing group of concerned citizens who apply Green principles to political, social, and environmental issues.

Unlike the Democrats and Republicans, the Lake Winnebago Green Party exists to improve our communities first and foremost. Running candidates for office is only one method for us to achieve this goal. We are holding local governments accountable; fighting for economic and social justice; working for cleaner air and water; and building coalitions against War and Violence.

If you want to work with a group of active individuals who truly believe in the power of people to make a difference, we encourage you to join with us and help make our communities an dthe world a better place.

The LWGP serves the counties of Outagamie, Winnebago, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Waushara. We are affiliated with the Wisconsin Green Party, and work closely with Campus Greens chapters at UW Oshkosh and Ripon College.

Green and growing

Building a third-party progressive movement is a challenge, but it is one we must take up. We are making progress. In fact, nationally the Green Party is the fastest growing political party. In 2004 there were over 400 candidates in at least 40 states, 70 of whom won. As of August 2005 there were 224 Greens in office nation wide. Wisconsin is one of the strongest states for the Green Party, where there are 19 elected officials from the Green Party. Wisconsin also boats the longest running Green elected official Dave Conley, Board of Supervisors, Douglas County, Wisconsin (1990-2006). To keep growing green, we need support from people like you who are tired of politics as usual and want to see a real alternative.
